Feeding Baby Chameleon - New Owner

I just got a baby Elliot's Chameleon (Trioceros ellioti) who is no longer than 1.5 inches. He is drinking water and has even pooped twice since I got him yesterday, but I can't get him to eat. I think my crickets are a little too big for him so I got fruit flies from the store, and I'm waiting on some small Phoenix Worms. Is a 16x16x30 terrarium too large for him? I tried putting him in a Tupperware to feed but he either ignores the flies or just swats them away. Any advice is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!

Can you get pinhead crickets? Flightless fruit flies?

Is this your first chameleon?

I have flightless fruit flies, but right now I don't have access to pinhead crickets. I hope the 1/4 inch phoenix worms I'm getting tomorrow will do the trick. Thanks for the welcome and advice, I'll start to answer those questions in an edit on my original post!

Update: I've been directed to the how to ask for help page, so here's more information.
  • Species is Trioceros ellioti, age is several weeks I don't have an exact number, and I received it yesterday
  • Chameleon is too young to sex (I've been told) but I call her a 'her'
  • I handle the Chameleon to direct her into the tupperware I use for feeding
  • I mist the enclosure 4-5 times per day, and the chameleon has no problems drinking
  • I have a 16x16x30 screen cage
  • I use a 50w exoterra basking bulb and a 25 UVB T8 bulb
  • Basking zone reaches 87 degrees
  • I'm not using live plants
  • The cage is about 2.5 feet off the floor
  • I am located in South Dakota
My current feeding solution is in the picture below so that there's a more confined area to hunt and the flies don't escape into the enclosure. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong!

One day later:
She is eating fruit flies! Probably just had to adjust to her new enclosure/ get used to me watching in fascination.
