Feeder cup while misting question.

I use a feeder cup and when I mist I take the cup out.
Looking around I have seen these feeder cups that look like a cut up small milk jug with a strip of mesh in it. I loaded a pic as an example.
What I'm wondering is do people remove these each time they mist? Do they just let them fill with water? I have ideas but I'm wondering what the common consensus is. Thanks again.

i would flip it upside down, remove the cap, and make the bottom and side one continous peice of mesh. How else do the buggers get on the mesh?

You can also drill, or punch small holes for the water to drain.
