Who here is educated in the studies of panther chameleon fecal matter? I can send you a sample and let me know if there are any parasites or a clean chek out. Thanks for your help. I don't want to mess w a vet just yet.

ROFL that'll be Dave Weldon for sure, He'll show you his collection! Right Dave! :D
Dave gives Kenny a run for his money on all matters of poo. l! :D

lol

Lol I put a healthy poo in a baggie and refridgerated it. With hopes I can send it to an expert for analysis. She is very healthy but a wild fly flew into the enclosure and she nailed it right away. I just want to make sure she's clean

Not to disparage Dave Weldon at all (I have the utmost respect for him actually) but why not establish a good working relationship with a medical professional in your own city?

for the cost of a vet visit and a fecal exam you can buy your own microscope (about $130 at ebay auction) then you can start learning and doing it yourself and satisfy your curiosity for free. or you can go spend that much any time you have concerns, the choice is yours !. the advantage of having your own microscope is that not only can you check whenever you want for the cost of materials, but if you get one with a camera , you can share pics online with other vets, entomologists, keepers, etc. a couple of issues, any moment of transmission might take a while to manifest itself to show up on a microscopy exam and fecal samples should be as fresh as possible (not saying that it couldnt be done by mail , just not the prefered way), i agree about being wary of herp vets (not that there arent alot of good honest herp vets out there) just my 2 c /edit https://www.chameleonforums.com/microscope-preferences-26015/ there are other choices if you need to go cheaper, and there are some camera models starting at $175 (not meant to replace veterinary care)

Okay, great idea I have a microscope here I guess Ill have to research how to break it down and view any microbials. Thanks.

Howdy,

Sounds like you are halfway there since you already own a microscope :). If you don't have it, snag a copy of the 2nd edition of the Klingenberg parasite book (~$10) and you are basically ready to go!

Thanks you guys! Dave I will invest in that book for sure. I really appreciate your assistance in the matter. The fecal sample if very healthy looking but large, must be from those hornworms she has been eating. I have an exotic vet by me, but I do not trust he really knows what he is doing w/ chameleons and his fees are like paying in diamonds. Plus, he is only in on Wed. I am a pretty smart guy so the book and a microscope should help tons. Thanks so much!
