fan?

OK so I know Chams do better in a screened enclosure, so with knowing that "now" I bought a glass viv...then. Its one of those ones they sell at petsuppermarket. You know, all glass with two swing out doors on the front, a screen on the top.

There are some air vent holes on the very front of the viv. Do any of you think it may help with ventalation if I wired up a small computer type fan to be placed on the top screen blowing out from the viv? I can put it on a dimmer for less flow if it's too much.

I also am worried about stress from the running of the fan. Has anyone noticed their chams having a stress reaction to slight noises and vibration?

Chameleons don't react to sound so much as they react to vibration and movements they can see.
They have poor hearing but great eyesight and touch sensory.

Do you have the option of ordering things online?

It's recommended to use an 8mm fan per 20g, but you can tweak it accordingly. I wouldn't start out with a dimmer, you can just pick one up if you feel you really need one.

Since it's a screen top, it should work really well for circulation. I would make it so the air blows down into the viv instead of out. Your chameleon won't be stressed by the fan, but if you find that he is trying to catch it with his tongue, you might wanna hide it behind a secure fake plant or something.

What kind of chameleon is this? You might want to work on buying or building a screen enclosure with time, and find something else to live in the viv you got.

I was thinking bout pointing it into the viv, but have also read that too much draft is bad..As in "dpn't put the enclosure in the path of AC vent.

So a small breeze in there will be ok?

Sorry he is a veiled.

Yes sin I do have access to ordering online...why?

I would go out and get a new set up but just dumped a couple hundred bucks into this one and would really like it to work until he outgrows it.
