Hi.....I'm looking for some suggestions on getting a SMALL indoor fake tree for Trixxi to clime on during the day by the window,it must be short as she's not that steady when climbing to high, would it be OK by the window, thanks for any tips:)

I've been searching for something with branches for Lily to climb in for ages, but haven't come across anything yet! They will only benefit from heat coming through the window, as glass blocks the UV rays. Lily loves basking in the window in her 'outdoor' cage!

I had an idea to make a kind of chameleon climbing frame! Haven't made one yet, but I'm planning to. I thought that I could use lengths of dowelling and make a frame structure for her to climb on. Using a thick piece of dowelling pushed into a concrete filled large flower pot as a base. If I ever get around to putting my plan into action, I'll post some pics!! :D

That sounds great!where i have Trixxi she can see the light coming in and tries to catch some rays by puffing herself up!looks really funny....but she does seem to love the heat!:)

I've been thinking about buying some for a while now, but they're pretty expensive, and often look quite poor, you really do need to fork out to get a good quality looking one! Here are probably the two best sites I found:
http://www.easyplants.co.uk/
http://www.deco-office.com/artificial_plants/?gclid=CLXs1dHOm5oCFZSD3god1zis8g

I know you're only looking for a small one, but how good does this look for a cham! http://www.easyplants.co.uk/japanesefruticosa.html I might have to get one in preparation for his big enclosure! I'd be ideal! :D

But yeah, you may as well just get a small ficus or something from a garden centre, as that'll easily do the job for now.

My guy also loves sitting in the light coming through the window! I've got a small benjamina for him to sit in when it's nice. I use an exo terra bendy vine to create a walkway from his cage to the ficus and he'll happily sit in the tree basknig and walk back into his enclosure when he's had enough! :D

Thanks slik jim...some great if not a little pricey looking trees! That big one would be class for a large enclosure.....my Trixxi Would need a map to find her way out:D..might have a go and try and make something myself....Try being the word!!

Yeah, sadly that's the problem with buying fake plants/trees! They're always massively over priced! And delivery is normally ridiculous too! Although, that big japenese whatever looks awesome! I'm really tempted to buy it as it'll be great for my planned 3ft x 4ft x 6ft enclosure! :D Just have to wait till I'm a little more flush with cash! :D Don't want to dip any more into my chameleon safety fund! :D

You're best off just buying a nice ficus from somewhere mate. Will easily do the job!

that tree thing looks flipping amazing for a cham!!! but very, very exspensive!!!! how can they charge that much???

Because an actual tree of that size would be equally as much if not more! Have you never been to homebase!? :p I really need to find some real trees like that, but it's just impossible to find anything safe for a chameleon, that'll grow in his enclosure! :(

I went to my local homebase last week and they had loads of plants in, including large ficus' for about £40. I would think considering the cost of fake plants, you may as well get a real plant. Then if they start eating the leaves (which Hugo does on his free range ficus) you don't have to worry.

I just got clea a 6 foot indoor fake ficus to climb on all the time. Its funny she is the exact same color of the leaves and even the white edges around the leaf she has on to :) She loves it I got it for $18 at Michaels when it was originally $30

That was a good find, Stefan! :D I wish I could find a bargain like that!

I found an xmas tree base and real dead branch make a great excersize tree for any reptile. You could drape something like this with fake vines/plants etc, any size you like.
You might find a good dead branch with lots of smaller branches in your local park, by the river (River dance LOL) I hear M. Flately can get a bit clumbsy after a few drinks.
:)
