Eyes Closed— UPDATE

Recently I noticed that Rango has been able to look around a bit before closing his eyes. They also seem a lot more bulbous until I approach him, which is a bit odd.

I ordered some blunt-tip syringes and have been force watering/feeding Rango. When I water him, I make sure the syringe goes back in his throat and I keep his head tilted back until he finishes swallowing.

I think he’s maintaining a healthy weight this way.

And, yes— I am currently calling around to find an experienced chameleon vet in my area. I may have to take a longer trip for this… but it will be very worth it for Rango’s health.

I hate Iowa weather. Just a few days ago, there was a blizzard… and now it’s 76 F out. It makes no sense... 😅

Here’s a list of vets in Iowa that see reptiles. You can call them and see if they have any chameleon experience.

I don’t know if this will be of any help to you. For routine things, like wellness checks and fecals, pretty much any exotics vet will suffice. For a vet with more experience and knowledge with chameleons, you may need to travel a bit.
Btw, I don’t think the weather anywhere is making sense.

That link isn’t working for me for some reason? Is there any way you could screenshot it and post it on this thread so I could see it please? 😅

Yeah…sorry. Looks like the whole site has migrated to Facebook and Instagram. I didn’t know. 😕
Try this…I know it works. https://members.arav.org/search/custom.asp?id=3661
What I do is read the info on the doctors of the clinic to see who has a special interest in exotics. If I google, often reviews will show as well. Asking friends or acquaintances or even pet stores with reptiles what vet they use can also provide info.
