eye medication

Do you know if there is anywhere I can buy eye medication online or store, without having to go to vet? I am having a hard time finding one and I am going on vacation next week. I think I saw a photo of a tube someone had gotten on a thread

What kind of eye problems does your chameleon have?

I hate to say it but he has been rubbing his eyes and closing them on and off during the day for a while now. He is not eating well but eats enough and drinks enough. I have tried shower, flushing with saline, etc. He is outside in warm sunny FL but this all started over the winter when he was inside.

I would take him to a vet before you go out of town. Eye problems often are the first sign of more serious medical problems.

Depending on what's wrong with his eyes would determine the type of medicine the vet would give him.

Ya, I know I have called several of them and all the exotic vets are out until next week. I guess he has waited this long he can wait awhile longer, just looks like hurt so I wanted to try and soothe them. He ate one hornworm, 2 superworms and a cricket this am so he cant be too sick!

If he is keeping his eyes closed, that is a very bad sign. How old is he? Three worms is not allot for a chameleon.

Heis about 1 1/2 yrs or 2 yrs old. Yes, he used to eat alot more and has lost a lot of weigth. I found a vet finally that has an opening today so i will be taking him this PM .. Thanks for the help it has gone on too long without any improvement.

What type (spiral, comact, long linear, etc.) of UVB light are you using? Have you switched bulbs lately?

Sorry I did not respond sooner have been at work 12hr the last two days/
Interesting you should ask about UVB I was just looking up more info on this.
i was under the impression if they were outside, in the sun, they did not need this. But the vet did tell me unless it was direct sun they still need uvb.
he is on the front porch in FL and gets sun for 4 hrs or so in AM and then just indirect light. Do you know if he needs more? He did great for first 2 yrs?
