Extinct Species of Galapagos Tortoise Rediscovered

The Galapagos Island "Fernandina Island Tortoise" was presumed extinct since 1906. However after 100 years after being declared extinct Forest Galante has found a female of the species while filming the second season of his Animal Planet show "Extinct or Alive". The female has gone into a Galapagos tortoise breeding program. She is most probably going to become a beacon of conservation similar to another single individual tortoise species that just recently passed away Lonesome George a "Pinta Island Tortoise". Here is a link to the event.
