exo terra reptile vision cf bulb

I use them to light larger cages that have other sources of UVB, such as with my mercury vapor bulbs.

To be honest, I don't really see a huge difference, but it does make the plants grow and the chameleons I've housed with them have done well.

For extra illumination and brightness, I'd actually suggest their Ion bulb instead. Nice, bright, and I like the color of the light better - it's a lot more blue toned, looks more like natural light to me. The Vision lights have kind of a yellow hue, which makes sense as the wavelengths produced are very heavy in the yellow section :)

Maybe for forest or nocturnal species, the vision light would be a better spectrum to use than the Ion bulb.

I use these bulbs on my large vivariums; I don't see them having much use in the traditional setup for chameleons, with their tube fluorescents and basking bulbs.

hi Jen thanks for the input

I have 2 vivs, a big one and a small one, in the small one (100 x 50 x 50 cm) I have an arcadia 80w all in one bulb (heat and uvb) but I have used it for 6 months now and I am afraid it's losing uvb output so I added a 5% uvb neon tube. I house my female in this viv and I think she's developing eggs now so I want to give her plenty of uv light. I have added the neon tube only 2 days ago so I can't yet tell if she's enjoying it or not. do you think I'm giving her too much light for such a small cage?
in the other viv (170 x 70 x 70), where I house my male, I only have a uvb tube ( brand new exoterra 5% same as the one in the female's cage) and a spot light to provide heat. the cham is doing fine but I'd like to give him a bit more light, what do you suggest between the 2 exoterra compacts we discussed (ions and reptile vision) and a t5 daylight neon. which one do you think is better for my boy? thanks again :)

I'd try the Ion bulbs with the Veileds. It's a brighter, more "blue" light, they're not really deep forest dwelling chameleons. :)
