Enclosure Sizes for Male Yemen Baby to Adult

Hello everybody, my parents have some concerns that a 24x24x48 screen cage is not large enough for a chameleon, and is one of the reasons they say they disagree with me having one. So I am hoping you guys can reassure them.

I plan to use a 24x24x48 (16 cubic feet) screen cage for my yemen from around 4 months to about 12-14 months and then build my own custom cage that is larger. Also I plan to have a little free range area with a couple of plants and vines that can be taken down and put up and changed around easily for him to roam on when im at home.

Does this sound like plenty of space for a yemen, starting from 4 months in a 24x24x48 then upgrading to a bigger custom when 14months or so old? (little free range reas at both times too)

Cheers guys and girls.

Yes, that is the standard size for adults, but bigger is always better. They can live comfortably in a 24 X 24 X 48. If your 4 month old is on the small side that cage might be a little large only if you let your prey run free. Sometimes the feeders will hide out in a large cage, but if you cup feed you should be fine

Your size is good. As Carol says he may have problems catching/ finding his food in a big cage but cup feeding will solve that problem. Popeye went straight into a 4x3x2 at 4 months and managed well.:)
