electricity bills? How are they?

I'm curious to know if anyones electricity bills bump up while running a chameleon cage set up?

I'm debating if i should get another cham, but i stay with my aunt and uncle at the moment while i'm in college. I want to know if adding another 5.0 UVB light, 75w Basking Bulb w/ Clamp Lamp + MistKing that kicks on 4 times a day would bump up our electricity bill. IF so how much more does it add onto your bill a month for one cage, or 2?

I really want a Male Nosy Be Panther, Male Sambava Panther or a Male Ambilobe Panther. I'm even debating on getting a Veiled (i like their huge casks) If i do decide to get another one, it would be after the winter. I'm pretty confident in taking care of my panther i currently have and i feel like one isn't just enough!

You can go to a 25 watt and lower the fixture if its not already sitting on top of the cage. Im not sure, but a total of 40 watts between the 15 watt uvb, and 25 w with the day bulb if you can run that. 25w bulb at night time, it wont be very much. Thats what you could be down to per cage. Check out all the different species of chams here! Nosy falys and oorana mena are my favs.

To be honest I didn't see much of an increase at all when I added my second cage, and I have a ProMist that comes on 3 times a day. You may want to just keep in your aunt and uncle's good graces and give them an extra $10 to be safe. Good luck trying to choose just ONE more cham! :D

The wattage of your bulb is what determines your temperatures, so a 25w may be enough for one person, but a 100w may be needed by another in order to get the temps needed for healthy chams. That is how you chose which wattages to use. Also you don't need a night bulb unless temps drop less than 60. Just wanted to point that out since the earlier post was misleading.

The increase should be very minimal for the bulbs. It's like if they added a reading lamp somewhere in the house. Not sure about the misting system but I doubt it would use much energy.

Well I've got 11 set ups running atm with a mistking an they cost me about 10-12 quid a month as I use 25w bulbs so as for you're answer going of this it won't cost much

Seems US is still running energy on a government loan. Here the increase is massive. Chams are a very expensive hobby in Asia in terms of energy (admit we have quite a bit of reptiles at our house). And imagine that this extra adds to global warming, which deminishes Chams in the wild evidently. Heck, we are so foolish selfish with our hobby. That's why you should only keep what your local temperatures permit. Here no montane will ever make it without supplementary effort. But veiled and panthers can thrive. Be sure you have the right species for your region.
