My vieled has been digging in her egg laying bin but she has been in the hole for hours is this normal? Should I give her water?

My vieled has been digging in her egg laying bin but she has been in the hole for hours is this normal? Should I give her water?

Hi! It can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days for her to finish completely. Avoid any contact with her if you can. If you could set up a dripper close by without her spotting you then that would be ok. If you disturb her she may abandon her hole and will have to start over.

You can dig them up when she's finished and out the bin. Once she's laid then she doesn't care about the eggs any more
