Montane species, such as jacksons, are oviparous, aka live birth.

Veileds, panthers, gracefuls, senegals, etc. are egg layers. and can lay eggs even when not bred.

There are other species, but if you have a specific species in mind, you should ask about it specifically.

I read a nice long article on the internet once about senegals being live bearing. don't be fooled. they are not. make sure to double check anyone's facts with chams. there is a lot of outdated and misinformation out there.
