Egg hatching?

I checked on my veiled eggs today and my initial thought was that I lost one because the egg looked a little shriveled. Upon closer inspection, I see slit marks in the end of it. I'm hoping that means it's hatching! This is my first clutch - she laid 23 eggs, we lost one already so we now have 22. I'm not sure all will hatch. When I candled them a while back, I didn't see anything (except for a few veins) in some of them. The eggs are several different sizes and colors which I found strange. My guess was that one of the larger eggs would hatch first, but the one with the slits is a smaller one.

How long does it take for a baby to come out once the egg has been slit?

The eggs were laid on 1/18/10 so they are just shy of 7 months. Here are a couple of pics. The first one shows the one I hope is hatching. (photo taken today) and the second shot is from a couple weeks ago.

Thoughts? Advice?

That 1st picture sure looks like they are ready. They have clear spots or some say windows which is another sign. Good luck!
oh and 7 months is when my hatched to and now i have 40 healthy babies:)

I'm glad I only have 22 eggs! I don't think I could handle 40. How old are your babies now? About how long does it take for it to come out of the egg?

Having babies is fun and a lot of work no matter how many babies you have.
My oldest babies are babies will be 5 weeks and then my younger babies will be about 3 weeks tomorrow. The hatch lings can take a day or 2 to come out.

It can take more than a day to come out of the egg...but some come out faster than that and the odd one takes longer than that. Don't take the container lid off too often for too long or you may dry out the shells and make it more difficult (if not impossible) for the hatchling to get out. Patience!
