Hi All,

My baby veiled's staryed hatching 2 weeks ago and so far the ones that have hatched are doing well and growing like crazy. The wierdest thing is we ar down to the last 6 egs or so and up to now 3 of them have changed colour like the rest did before hatching, however instaed of hatching fully they are seeming to split the eggs a tiny bit then not doing anythng?? I have felt them and they dont seem to feel soft like they should be, They seem to be drying out and I fear some of them may have perished? Can anyone give me advice on this as I dont want to lose anymore?? :(

Thanks in advance.

If the eggs have been split for several days and still nothing is happening except the eggs drying out, there is a problem. More than likely since they are the last to hatch and possibly been split for days, these are the weak ones of the clutch. It may be they are not strong enough to come out of the shell.
If you are very, very experienced at extracting the babies out of the egg, you can try taking one out. It takes a bit of skill, but it is worth a shot as once the eggs dry up, the babies will not be able to come out on their own.
If you don't feel comfortable extracting the babies, just let nature take its course.

Nature is so cruel at times!! I think I may have a shot at extracting as I have 1 that has been open 3 days which again looks like it may be drying up. Is there anything I would need before attempting to open the egg fully??
