Eating part of crickets?

Why does Picasso sometimes eat part of a cricket then spit it out?

He's done this twice now, both times he keeps eating other crickets after though.

I dont think so, i could be wrong though. It was a smaller cricket and I've seen him nom huge ones no problem. He seemed to eat all the cricket guts and leave the hard shell behind lol.

I've witnessed mine spit out a couple of crickets after he started to chew them.

My theories that aren't tested or verified are as follows:

Caught it at an angle that allowed the cricket to bite his tongue or cause discomfort before he ate it.

Tasted bad, maybe too much of a certain gut load veggie?

Cricket squirmed just right and he simply lost the grip to keep it in his mouth.

This literally has only happened about three times total so I'm not worried about it being an actual issue.
