actually they dont smell at all and i clean my colony like every 6mo just... because. Even then it doesn't smell, kinda of amazing when u think how much crickets stink. They are very clean, and since they are a tropical roach they need heat like .. high 80s to "infest". I have had a few escape, they just stand on top of the box and wait to get back in to the warmth and food of the colony lol
My girlfriend who was completely against them at first ran to the ups guy to open them up and put them in their new home. When she opened the containers that jonrich sent them in the first thing she said was "where's the smell?" lol. The benefits just simply outway the gross factor. They don't die in the hundreds like crickets do if things aren't perfect, they don't smell, they breed fast, are super cheap to take care of, and most of all they have more meat in the shell!! When I explained this to her and she asked if our female emperor scorpion could also eat them and I said yea she was extatic. She's gonna hold an adult tonight to get the whole gross thing out of the way so she can help me with them.
my dubias arrive tomorrow, ive never bred them before is it just a case of stick them in together with the right conditions and it just happens?
how long does it take the babies to get big?
