Dry eggs hatching

Ive been busy with 23 babbies over the last couple months and went to check my eggs in the closet last week and the deli cups felt bone dry.... I was sure they were all goners!but I rehydrated the deli cups slowley by misting over 30 min.I went to check them today and found 2 babbies and 10 more venting!!And the other 5 look fine.Im guessing the A/C contributed the them getting so dry..Has this happened to anybody else . Im wondering if the heavy misting helped them hatch.Or if the shells were to dry for them to hatch prior to misting. Anyway looks like I have plenty of babbies to trade to expand my collection.I will post a couple pics tomorow the light are out in my cham room.

good call...that sucks about the culture never being delivered, glad everything is going good....you must be knee deep in babbies by now:p:D

You misted the eggs?? What was the timeline between misting and hatching? its interesting cause if the eggs get covered in water, they'll drown

I wonder if it were just a coincidence that they started hatching after you misted them or if the misting actually triggered them to hatch...
I have 2 lone panther eggs from different clutches one at 7 months and the other about 8 months, And I don't know if there's enough water in the vermiculite because there is no condensation in the containers like no water on the lid or anything like that but when I squeeze some of it I get about a drop of water from it and I heard that's enough...I also incubate at fairly lower temps at about 23 degrees celsius at the most and its an a fridge incubator.
And I have incubated veiled eggs before in a polystyrene/fish tank incubator at 26 degrees...and I remember the tub had water drops on the lid...
Do you think I should add more water? These are my first panther eggs..I also am worried that I put too much water in and the eggs end up bursting like I've heard they do with too much water

But congrats with your eggs and babies!! You are lucky to have so many babies :)

It was about a week.from the time i misted them to them starting to hatch. I was thinking the misting trigered them to hatch. I dont recomend letting them dry out.. I think im lucky i checked them yesterday....

Yeah, definitely lucky cause usually the eggs will drown if they are covered in water. In order for the eggs to get their humidity, usually water is applied on the vermiculite or whatever substrate you're using. Anywho, glad the babies are coming out well:)

Well ive been misting the whole deli cups monthly for a few years. 7 more hatched today while I was at work.Thats 9 so far, 8 more to go and all the rest are vented or sweating. The shell is membrane&calicum. im guessing in the wild the eggs endure much more than a light misting. Here are a couple pic's
