Dripper problem....

So I placed my new dripper on top of the cage without using the tube. I just let it drip right through the cage... When drips build up on the top cage it will create a hanging drip in the inside of the cage on the ceiling... The water drips on the leaves but he doesn't lick the leaves... He shoots his tongue at the hanging drips on the ceiling to drink.... Is this bad or should I just make a hole and start using the tube?

As long as he cant get his tongue stuck on the ceiling it shouldnt be aproblem. I use a cup with a pin prick in the bottoma and the only times i have seen mine drink is from the hanging drips on the ceiling.
