Drainage System and Screen Mesh

So I've been kicking around a few ideas on how to put together a drainage system for my cage. I've gone through the Drainage thread and found some great ideas. The cage I bought came with a custom stand that the previous owner had built, and before I had known about drainage problems (I'm new to chams), I thought the stand was a nice addition. After doing some research, I decided to scrap the stand and go with the vanity set-up. The cage (which is 2'x2'x4' and I believe is a LLLReptile cage) sat on a piece of plywood of the same size (2'x2'). My idea is to cut a hole in the middle of that piece of wood and secure an oil drain pan to collect the water and direct it to a bucket. I would like to use some type of plastic sheeting to help create a funnel into the drain pan, and cover the whole thing with mesh screen so that no feeder bugs will get through. I'm just curious as to what type of screen material to get that is safe. If possible, getting the same material as what the screen cage is made of would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated and let me know if this idea makes any sense haha. Thanks!
