Dont like Bugburger

Hola!
I been using big burger with my dubias for about the past week. Well Koopa snags a Dubia and I come back to the room to find a half bit dubia (dead now) at the bottom of the cage. I look at him (Koop) like whats wrong, he looks at me like "you know whats wrong". So i get the dubia out to inspect and i just happen to smell it (yea im nasty) and it smells like bug burger. The dubias love it but could my Cham hate it? Anyone else deal with anything like this?

If You feed dubia too much protein they can build up uric acid which i assume wouldnt smell/taste good. I only do a 50/50 mix of bug burger with something else that is way less protein rich. crickets like high protein (25% +) which would kill off a dubia colony (and has before the reformulating of bug burger for dubia) over time. Your dubia like around 10% protein (18% tops) for "full flavor". After about 15-18% they start storing protein as uric acid, and around 25% it starts to kill them off.

Also i would try bug burger dry, this will keep in from going rancid in 2 days like the gel version.

I mix my BB with Dinofuel. Sometimes I make the gel and sometimes I use them dry. My local pet shop has a cricket feed that they make in house and I'll blend their feed with the BB and DF (dry) and my crix, dubs and hissers all go crazy for it. Don't ask me to break down the analysis. I just know that they like it.

Oh, and I try to do oranges, carrots, kale and other veggies every other day. The bugs are happy... ;)

I just give my roach colony rinsed organic veggies, nut, seeds and DinoFuel and they have it wiped out in under an hour.
