Do I need heat with my temperatures?

My room is over 80 degrees and I was wondering if I really need a heat light for Jefe my Panther chameleon. He is I believe around 10 months old but I could be mistaken.

Yes they need a heat gradient. Their basking temps should be around 90 degrees, however the 80 degrees ambient might be too hot, and he could overheat. like I said they need a heat gradient to regulate their heat they need the cool temps as well as the hot temps. In my opinion you should find a way too cool things down a bit especially at night.

Is your room over 80 degrees first thing in the morning? Chams are attracted by bright light as well as heat, and a basking spot also encourages them to climb closer to the UV light to soak up some rays. Chams bask to reach their best "operating temp" more quickly, so maybe all he really needs is a basking spot for a couple of hours in the morning and maybe again in late afternoon so they can digest their food before chilling at night. Control the light with a timer so it shuts off during the warmest part of the day, but leave the UV light on a full 12 hours.
