dimming lights during misting

For the fun of it, I was just looking at the fancy LED fixtures that have storm modes that flash/dim the lights during mistings. It made me think, would it be helpful at all to shut off your basking light for the duration of a mist session? Having a bright basking light shining while water is pouring down seems unnatural. I know it's probably not necessary, but maybe it would stimulate them into drinking/bathing more? I know I'd be confused if a downpour started while the sun was out with no clouds. The UVB could stay on of course though. The basking could even stay on for a quick mist that doesn't last long because I'm sure light showers happen all the time while the sun is still poking through the clouds. But having a few long mists with the basking off, a week would simulate a nice storm, no? I know the LED fixtures even have flickering lights and stuff, but that might just scare the cham. This would be easy to do with timers, I was considering giving it a try with one of my chams and see if I notice anything different? Maybe this is old news to some of you? or just plain stupid hah, so LMK what you think.

I gauge the life of my basking bulbs based on the amount of on/off cycles. So that will drastically reduce my bulb life.

Another problem is how smart is the cham? I have some so dumb i have to find a cross roads that they pass every day, just so they learn where the basking spot is. If that bulb is off (say it blew) they get very confused and will still try to turn sideways and try to get warm.

Other than that, i would love to cut all light, have some strobes and foggers, and have a mini thunder storm a few times a day :)

Good point! Didnt think about the bulb life cycle... as for them being dumb. You really think they'd have issues finding the basking after 10-30 min of it being off a few times a week?
