Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

She was mated october 13 and now is lifeless and struggling to breath, i know it would have been soon for her to be laying but she is clearly going soon and sadly im not going to go to a vet and spend 500 dollars to run a few test to tell me she is still going to die. :(

My main concern is should I actually open her up and try to at least save the eggs once she is totally gone. Trust me I am doing everything possible to save her but I want to know if there is any chance to save the eggs even though their only 21 days in the making could they still be saved?

please help and address my main topic of the eggs and not criticize everything about my chameleon care because I know she has proper housing, supplementing, ect.
Thanks

i forgot to add she was in her sand bucket at the lower end of her cage like she was going to try and lay but became much to exhausted from carrying the eggs and doesn't seem as if she is going to bounce back, her limbs and limp and she is taking a deep gasp of air mouth open every minute or so...

I don't think the eggs would make it if you took them out of her stomach.

Im so sorry. It sounds like she's about to pass any minute now. :(

sadly I figured this but if anyone else has any miracle tricks please let me know. I would love to save her eggs she was a great chameleon female very feisty and beautiful and big

I have removed eggs and had them hatch. You have to make sure that you remove the thin membrane that the eggs travel down. If you don't that will mold and will ruin the eggs. They should slide out of it if you are careful. Then, just put them in the wet vermiculite and keep your fingers crossed that they were ready to be laid.

Sorry to hear about your female.
Is this one of the ones you keep in a cage with others?
Is it the one that you posted about a few weeks ago that you were waiting for to lay the eggs?

u didnt really fill out the form u need to say what lighting not just "good"
and PICS WOULD BE A HUGE HELP

i didnt feel out certain sections because i know its proper lighting and ect. because im on the forum frequently. and no my female that was pregnant was a wild caught ambanja that laid great and is due for her next clutch. this female has passed, i did a quick check for eggs, she was just big but no eggs surprisingly. At least her pain is over, I was positive she had passed so nothing was inhumane.

thanks for the support though guys i really appreciate it

I had to do the same with an Ambanja female I had. She would dig but just wouldn't lay and became egg bound. I cut the eggs out once she was passed but they weren't any good. It's still always worth a shot. Sorry to hear about this man....

it happens life goes on. I loved watching her eat though she could chow down if i would let her. really a beautiful ambilobe female. im glad to hear there have been successful situations with saving the eggs though

She was also pushing 3 years old which is actually old for female panthers... i think it will be the last time i buy a female chameleon that someone tells me is over 2 years old to begin with :(
