Ok So my new baby 4 month old veiled came home yesterday he is a little guy. He is in a 18x18x36 retibreeze. We have the lights at the top as well as a Big dripper with the dipper hose sticking a few inches in from the top. He has quite a bit going on from about 4 inches from the top of the inclosure all the way down. Yet little Yoda has slept on the dripper tube last night and he went right back there tonight right around the same time the lights went off last night. He did not move an inch last night. Could this be because its the highest part of the inclosure? I know its an odd/silly question but just thought I'd ask. I have a 7 year old bearded dragon and this is my second beardie but they are very different. Pretty much like cats and dogs lol. So I didn't think I'd be one of "those" crazy cham moms asking silly questions, but I am!!! lol

Lmao, I remember when I first had Ryker in his baby cage and he would constantly go ontop of his mister. Worried the hell out of me. Found him sleeping there a couple times XD. They usually find a place they like to sleep and will continue to go there, at least a few weeks in a row until they find a new place. I have noticed when I change my cage layout around a lot and wash the plants and such, Ryker will completely change sleeping spots from near the middle or bottom of the cage to the very top or vice versa. It won't be a continuous thing, they tend to switch sleeping spots every now and then, and eventually he'll be to big to be able to comfortably sleep on the LD hose. But enjoy his little baby antics until then. They tend to be the most spastic and silly at this age, learning their boundaries still much like kittens and puppies. As they become adults they slow down, become less goofy and though he still brings a lot of joy into my life I can't help but miss the silliness of baby Ryker.

So don't worry, your baby is just learning and finding out what works and doesn't. Eventually he will learn what works for babies doesn't always work for adults XD

Well it's go to know because I was a little worried too. He's so cute though! I just didnt want him to do something he should not. Although I am not really sure what I would do to stop him. I am already enjoying watching him though he almost gave me a heart attack already. He was walking the top of his enclosure and let go with his hands I thought for sure he was going to fall my husband was yelling at me to go helo him. I didnt want to scare him by running up to him. I get to him softly open the door. Slowly reach in to "catch" him and he lets me save him then darts off my hand to a branch. Cause you know Im gonna eat him lol. Poor guy I want him to like me, or at the very least trust me I know it takes time but I am not a patient person I want to be friends now lol

Use special feeders for hand feeding, because hand feeding is the easiest way to gain trust. Use only these feeders ONLY for hand feeding. I would offer something that's irresistible like a silkworm or hornworm. Even an occasional wax worm is ok as a treat. It's more likely he will see start to see you as that amazing person who brings those tasty treats, then that horrible thing that will eat him when he's not paying attention XD. Don't worry too much about him falling, I mean it might happen but if he just lets go with his front feet then he won't fall most likely. Those back legs are amazingly strong ^^

He's just in the taller cage so the fall seems so far for him I am a nervous momma. Its been awhile since I had a tiny little baby like that. My beardie was very tiny when I got her but that was 7 years ago and she never hung from the ceiling either lol.

It's ok, when Ryker was a baby I was a nervous mom too. Fluttered around him constantly and babied him like crazy. I think that's kind of why he turned out to be the weird chameleon he is. He's almost like a puppy in a scaly skin? He likes pretty much anyone, and everytime someone offers their hand to him when he's out, he will crawl onto it like it's nothing. He's an eating machine with the metabolism to match. And he loves going outside and soaking up the rays in his screened in enclosure. He's a spoiled boy, I don't know if I'll ever have a chameleon that'll be anything like him... from what I've read on here he's kind of an odd ball. But he couldn't be better for my first cham. He got severely burned when he was 8 months, so bad that I took him to the vet. Was my fault because I didn't have the basking light raised and was also using a halogen bulb which I had never used before and didn't realize they burned hotter than regular basking bulbs. He still bares the scars from my mistake, though they are slowly healing with each shed.

Yet even at the vet he was a model patient, even though he wasn't happy he never bit my vet, only gaped. Never even hissed. He is the most laid back, I am not even sure if he'd be a good breeder lol XD, given the fact that he doesn't react to his reflection at all, though I've never put him with another female to test the theory. I don't know if chams are like dogs and pass down some of their disposition when they breed, but if they do I'd love to have some of his babies wandering the world. ^^ They'd make the cham world a brighter place <3

Awe that is so sweet. I can only hope my little Yoda is half the guy Ryker is. I want him to be happy in the end and hopefully I can at least do that. That must have been awful when he got burned. I know when my 2 dogs accidently were poisined by my gardener it was awful. I thought my heart was going to literally break it hurt so bad. At the time we didnt even know that is what had happened. Anyhow they luckily are ok but thats not the point I understand how awful it feels. Are any of his pictures posted anywhere I would love to see this amazing guy?

I am raising my first every babies hatched over the past weekend. They are driving me crazy because they have no common sense at all and have on occasion fallen. I wadded up paper towels to cushion the fall.

I've found most of mine will always poop in the same spot. Some even go down to the bottom to poop.

Enjoy your baby!

I don't have any recent pictures of him. I need to put some up now that I have found my camera cord again. I will end up doing that after I have come home from my brother's wedding and I can take pics of his new set up and get some pictures of his pajama colors for you and everything. His sleeping colors and his normal day time colors are so different. When he sleeps he is the brightest oranges and reds, with some blues, and then when he's just normal during the day he's dark green, rusty red, and black. He's a hybrid of like 5 or 6 different locales so I never really knew what his colors were going to end up being which I found made it really interesting ^^.

I live in central California, San Luis Obispo? The place where water no longer exists XD.

Oh I cant wait to see and congrats to your brother. My bestfriend that is like a sister is getting married in 10 days and I am the MOH. Its so much work I cant wait for the actual wedding I am so excited. I am also in the land of no water its awful. My yard is dead because of the water restrictions and this heat. Its horrible.
I am very much enjoying his silly self but I am just a nervous momma. I have raised 2 boys to 21 and 21 Im rasing the youngest still he is 13 and have 4 very healthy dogs ranging in age from 3 to 11 and two 19 year old cats and a 7 year old bear die. You would think this would be easy lol.
