Dealing with Smell?

My wife wont let me get more chameleons because she doesnt like the damp reptile smell in my cham room. I am in the planning process for a new enclosure system, when my little girl gets big enough for her bigger cage. I do not have a very good drainage system now, but I will have a better system in the new one, which will help. Even though the water still sits in a container below the cage. Does anybody have any tips or tricks I could incorporate into my new enclosure scheme to minimize smell? Or anything I could add to the room, ie ozone, fans, ionizer, I dont know just suggestions. I clean the cage every other day, so cleanliness is not the culprit. Thanks so much

I've had goodluck with an air putifier and fan combo

Mint? Lavender?

I'm planning to try them in my new cages when they get here. I don't know how well it'll cover up smell but when my mother had them growing here they had pretty noticeable scents.

When ever U have standing water and organic material you will have stink!!

I have room air filter/ionizers, humidifiers, etc.

I found some dura trays made for rabbit cages to put under the camp cages and collect the water. Then, i stick some magazines or something under it at an angle so the water all goes to one corner.
The I drill a hole, epoxy in a bulkhead and stick a drain tube in it and run the other end of the tube to a big bucket.

Just dont forget to empty the bucket!! ;)

Yeah I was going to engineer a system like that in my new setup. So good drainage makes a big deal? if so I will make sure to make that a big priority. Is mint and lavender safe for Chams?

If you wipe down the bottom of your cage daily and remove fecal matter, waste, dead plant matter and feeders you shouldn't have such a problem. I have four chams and they have no smell coming from any enclosure. Less is more in my opinion as far as towels bags and other materials used for drainage. Try a shelf that is open enough for draining straight through into a nice size bucket that you empty once daily. Prevent build up of mildew by wipkng access water from surfaces and enclosure walls. Hope this helps
