Dead Tail?

the white area looks like a un-finished shed
when was the last time he/she shed?

i think it can cut off blood flow

im no expert tho

A retained shed can certainly cut off blood flow. Easiest affected areas by this are the tips of tails and toes. I've heard of people using a dab of KY jelly to help aid in a retained shed situation.

I think I went through the same thing recently with one of my chams... there was a part on her tail where the shed wouldnt complete (it looked like she had some kind of mark at the same spot even before the shed...). I left it for a while because I was told not to peel their shed off, but eventually it looked like a problem to me so i took it off although it was on there pretty tightly and it was clearly constricting her. I think it might be happening again as she just shed again today...

morphingexotics...the tail looks necrotic (dead) to me at the end. If the tail keeps dying further and further up you should take it to the vet. If it doesn't, then the dead part should eventually fall off.

Hey its not my chameleon. It is the person who posted the thread. I sold her the chameleon as a baby about 5 months back. Just helping post the pic.

the picture in this post is no longer available. Does anyone have a similar picture or a link to one for me to see please? My new cham has what I think is a dead end to his tail and a lighter part just above it which be part of a bad shed I guess.

Go with Kinyongas reply. I had a little panther with about 1/4 inch of a dead tail. It will fall off and then put some neosporin or something like that on it untill it heals up. BUT if it does start to spread get it to the vet asap. They may have to amputate it. I hear it spreads rather rapidly. When there is still some shed on the tail I use saline solution and drop a few drops on it here and there and then put some on a q tip and light rub it off. You can also soak the tail in warm water but I found it to be a pain trying to keep the cham still long enough to soak it.
