Curious

From reading reports, they typically hatch between 7 to 9 months, or can take as long as 13 to 14 months to hatch!

They go through a period known as "diapause" where they stop developing during adverse conditions they'd normally encounter in the wild (cool temps, dry, etc). This needs to be mimicked to a certain extent in captivity as well for successful incubation.

I am not an expert but I heard also a part of it is because Veiled Chameleons produce a lot larger clutches more often than not than a Panther would. And because of that, there are far more Veileds and they are a lot more common. Just something I heard.

Thats cool. I don't know anything about breeding chams, and I was looking at prices for panthers and had a stroke lol jk.

Yeah the price of a good panther now a days is just ridiculous. Like Sandra said we allow the prices to be like that so it isn't going to change. Don't get me wrong, I think they are worth that amount of money but it just gets a little much sometimes with the prices.

And not to mention the care it takes to raise babies. You want to atleast break even as a breeder and charging that much per baby considering feeding costs and all of that it is fair.

Yeah, man I wish I could afford a panther, but I love veileds so Im not really losing out. I doubt bf would be ok spending 400 ish on a cham even if it does make me smile lol

LOL yeah $400.00 for any animal at times is hard to do unless you really are committed. I can afford a Panther but I want to wait until I have a bit more experience now before making that leap.
