Cricket Size for Baby Veiled

Nope

New Member
I'm about to buy a male juvenile veiled from LLLReptile.
I have a choice as a special, to buy 200 crickets with the the chameleon.

The Veiled is going to be 3"- 4" inches as advertised.
I know pinhead is a no-go, since they're REALLY small (go figure)

What should the proper size be?

Thank you, I can't wait to get my Pokémon.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. The general rule is to not feed anything bigger than the distance between the Chameleons eyes.......(unless its a worm, then go by length of Chameleon head). Soft bodied worms can be a bit bigger than mealworms.........You should just get the next size or 2 up from pinheads, you don't need to be too concerned about getting them too small because you can give them good gutload and the crickets will grow quickly too :)

This is a top quality blog with all the basic info.........https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html

Welcome tothe wonderful world of veileds!!! I really hope you enjoy the puberty additude these guys have youll love it!!! When my veileds were this age i feed them two week old crickets about 1/4-1/2 inch crickets but these guys get big quick from my experience so you will be able to give them the bigger ones soon enough!!! Make sure you dust their food with every feeding with out d3 everyday for the first few months and i use reptivite vitamins with d3 once a week but alwAys with clacium without d3 for each feeding with my little guys i feed twice a day once at 8 10-12 crickets N 2-3 silkworms or butterworms at their 3ish feeding.
