Could I use this?

No, it is too much animal protien in my book (regardless of quality.) Chameleons don't need dog food (chicken, salmon, bison, lamb, etc.)

I still wouldn't. I wouldn't want to risk gout. Though I suppose if you really want to you can use it. Animal protien is still animal protien to me. Plus high quality food tends to have a lot (LOT!) more meat anyways so....

i think I will just give it to the roaches as a feeding source with some veggies and then gutload particular roaches accordingly.

How small is small? You can use it in gutload, but give the roaches a while off of it before feeding. No need to overreact, people.

If you aren't feeding the roaches the food before feeding, then it wouldn't be the gutload.

I can feed my roaches dead animals and it's not gutloading unless I feed the roaches with the dead animal in their stomaches to my reptiles. It's gutloading when I feed them veggies and foods right before feeding them off. Otherwise it's just food.

Well hey if we are going to get specific here... ;)

I wasn't sure that it had mattered.

So pssh, when is the time that you can start calling it a gutload? Can you give me a time frame? ;) :)

I gutload mine 24/7. Which I suppose you could just call feeding them healthy (for reptiles) food.

Most (from what I've gathered) say that you need to gutload for at least 4 hours before being fed off. But it depends on your intention. If you intend to gutload, then it starts when you start feeding them food that you consider a gutload food. If you are not intending to gutload them, then there is no start or end.

I originally asked if i could use it as a gutload as in feeding before i feed off but you said i shouldn't so I may just give it to them to eat and then gutload with other stuff before feeding. unless it would be fine to use as a part of a gutload. I mean roaches have protein in them too so just a little shouldn't cause gout right? it has so much other good stuff in it.

But then you have to ask yourself how much is too much? How do you know what is 'just a little' and not enough to cause gout? if you can figure it out/don't mind the risk go ahead.

There is protein and there is protein. The type and source of the proteins matter and are affected by the specific amino acids, fats, carbs, etc that go along with them. Animal proteins that might be great for carnivorous dogs or cats may NOT have the same value to an insectivorous lizard. The lizard may not even be able to metabolize them well or they might just be excreted (wasted). I just keep reminding myself about what chams eat in the wild...insects primarily. Some of those insects might have eaten dead meat, but the nutrients have been metabolized before the cham ever gets them.

Isn't that the same thing? Well I won't use it then to be safe.
