Converting old TV consoles...

Good Morning

Well its one of those crazy kokom05lb ideals again! But if you know me, you know that I love building my own enclosures. So, I know that the old wooden tv consoles into reptile enclosures! I mean why not, they turn them into fish aquariums lol. I know that they wouldn't do much good for bigger species like panthers or veiled, but maybe beardies, geckos, pygmy's etc.

Anyways I'm still toying with the ideal since I can't find one. Anyways looking at some pics of old console tvs I was thinking that after the tv is completely gutted. Sides reinforced, stain and waterproofed, take the old tv panel out and make that into a plexiglass door. Make a top panel for the lights so the reptiles and feeders can't get to the lights.

But like I said in stil playing with the ideal. Idk if it will be done. All depends on if I can find a old wooden console or not. But let me know what you guys think. I'm full of ideals lol :)

That is a really cool idea! If you figure it out let me know! My Bf would think that is really cool! (he has a beardie lol)

I used to repair them, and sold the last of them in 2003-2004. You want a zenith console. The hard parts are the fact the bottoms have slits for air flow, most of the time there are holes in the floor for mounting peg casters, and the fronts are plastic. While possible its going to be alot of work. I would finish the entire inside with that 1/8" plastic wall that they make motor home walls with. Still how will you deal with ventilation? You should cut holes in the top, cant do it in the front, the only option is to replace the speaker holes with screen, and use screen door for the back.
