Clumsy Chameleon

So I have plenty of rough vines and foliage in my male Jackson's enclosure for him to grip tightly however I noted three times that when I turn off the lights at night, he gets clumsy and falls down to the bottom of the enclosure. I turn the lights back, pick him up and assist him back to the top. It is not a long fall to do any serious injury but I feel bad for him because I'm sure it is a scary experience.. Anybody else have a cham that falls down often?
