Climbing on roof?

Hey guys I don't know why but my Veiled Chameleon Spyro has been climbing the top of the roof for a pretty long time. Mostly right next to his UVB light. I am getting worried that he is going to get thermal burn. I already tried to bring him down to the plants but he will just climb back up! Please help me I don't understand why he is flipped upside down on the roof by the UVB light. It's kind of funny tho :D please write back ASAP!

They will do that when they are younger. Just exploring is all it's doing. Just watch for him not hanging under the basking light too often. I usually remove them from the ceiling of the cage if they are constantly on it.

yea they do that alot.
my guy would climb the ceiling and hang there for house as a baby, now hes too big to hand upside (And now hes fr so there is no ceiling to hang from)
Just make sure when hes doing this that the mesh isnt too hot for him and he cant get burned.
Otherwise, leave him be.
If your cage isnt filled iwth plants, he could also be trying to find places to hide, or he just has a cold belly :p

I put a bunch of plants in there after I realized i needed more. Idk what to do with him though! He's not by his heat lamp, he is by the metal UVB lamp and I'm afraid something might go wrong like getting thermal burn or getting blind. Help me out here. I am being a paranoid android :D

haha relax. If your uvb is a 5.0, and isnt sitting right on top of the screen. he will be fine.
I had my lamps (both my uvb and heat) about 4-6 inches from the top of my guys mesh screen.

done it since ive had him when he was 2 weeks old. hes ten months now, not blind, not burned.. nothing wrong.. (cept hes a cranky butthead and wanders away sometimes)

He shouldn't go blind with the correct lighting and as far as I know, there are no such thing as thermal burns with a UVB light..

Its typical of young Chams.

Funny, i once got a PM with a warning about having my Cham upside down, and how it was harmfull, etc. (This was because i had a Avatar pic with My Veiled hanging from my hand).

I then send that person a video and tons of pix of him hanging upside down in his cage. lol

But yea, your only concern should be a risk of burn. If you can suspend the lamps a few inches over the cage you'd be just fine.

You havent heard? chams upside causes blood to rush to the brain and they die! lol.
Sorry I once had someone tell me that when my cham crawled upside on my arm one day. some random person a pet store ( i had him with me cuz i was transporting him from my moms house to mine)
 :p

Yeah, the UVB ReptiSun 5.0 linear tube lights give off minimal heat, but that isn't much. Nothing to cause a burn or anything. Just there to give off light.

He is giving me the evil eye when I put him down in the plants when he gets too close to his basking UVA light :D. It's too funny watching him hang like that XD. Thankfully Spyro is a very chilled guy. He doesn't puff up, hiss, and thankfully doesn't bite :O. Ooo another quick question. Instead of licking the plants after the water drips on them, he aims for where the water droplets are falling down -__-... so he starts to aim for the top of the cage and shoots his tongue out and almost always misses.... It's so funny to watch. I never knew these little guys were so entertaining to observe :p. Sigh here he goes again towards the top of his heat lamp :p.

Eh leave him be. if he wants to 'hang out' pun intended, let him.
as long as the lights arent touching the cage, hes fine.

Thats the problem! They are resting on the top of the mesh cage! My vines and plants are lowered down on his cage so it won't be too hot but now he just wants to go up there and hang upside down. I already felt the top mesh and it doesn't feel burning hot at all. It's a nice warm temperature but it doesn't even burn my hand so I'm really not worrying too much now. Looks like he is stopping though. He is a super curious guy! He likes to go all over his cage except the bottom part.

EDIT: There is also a big plant next to his cage and he loves to go on that plant when ever I take him out. So i think that might be one of the reasons why he climbs a lot too. Should i move the big plant next to his cage away so he won't be too tempted? Or should I just let him chill up there?

I just sit and watch my Chams for about an hour a day (that makes 3 hours, lol).

The things they do. Especially when you free-range feeders (in my case, A FEEDER, make sure i don't have any escapes). I love to see them hunt. My Ambanja makes some top notch shots.

Fun Times!
