Choking???

Hi!
My Cham was eating crickets and she ate one and seemed to kinda choke on it (she closed her eyes and shook her head for a second) and then she seemed fine and kept eating. But now she keeps stretching her neck up and opening her mouth and she is VERY thirsty. Normal?

How big was the feeder and how big is the cham

I feed her large crickets from the store I work at. They were not bigger than the space between her eyes. She’s an adult female veiled. I’ve read many times on here that they can eat their prey the wrong way and it makes them choke. Are these signs of choking? What can I do?

She is still very much able to hiss at me and I don’t visibly see anything stuck

Just making sure, do you gutload the crickets from your store? I would suggest you get your husbandry reviewed if you looked at the petstore caresheet...

Yes I do. It’s not a chain pet store, it’s a small family owned pet store and we don’t sell chameleons. All of our animals are rescues and I would never trust a pet store care sheet. I’ve gotten my husbandry reviewed on here already because this chameleon fell into my lap, I rescue animals and she needed rescuing, so I took her. I’m really just wondering if there is something I need to do about the fact that she is doing this. If it was too large for her, what can I do?

Seems like she was able to clear her throat then, if she's hissing at you just fine ?. Give her extra water if she's thirsty, and keep an eye on her. But sounds like she just didn't like the way the cricket went down. They flex their neck like that when they eat big feeders like a big juicy hornworm. Is she a good chewer?
