Changed my Panther for a veiled

Hi guys, I was very upset that I had been lied to by the pet store owner giving me a female panther when I asked for a male, I called him and he asked me "how did you find out" so I'm done with that store period, I'll never shop there again.
I found a guy who has a few different species of lizards and he was looking for a panther so he bought mine. I am getting a baby veiled MALE tomorrow from my friend who is also my feeder woman, she breeds reptiles ocassionally and has a few baby veileds left, so I am very very excited to get my baby tomorrow and hopefully you guys will have some tips on keeping him happy and healthy for the rest of his life. How old do veild males live 4 for? Thats one thing I don't know!:)

Omg!

I cannot believe that is what the store owner had to say!

Well good luck with your Veild there are a few differances with the husbandry as for feeding and temps, so you may want to research the forum if you are not sure about that part of the care for Veilds... but your freind/breeder should be able to fill you in.

Just wanted to say good luck w/ your guy! I want a veild baby so bad... the are the #1 cutest things, but with 2 panthers my Husband has put the breaks on... well for now I hope to be able to change that at some point!
:D

Oh yeah

Oh yeah, I'm surely done with them at the pet store!
Also I am going to quiz my breeder on his whole set up and show her everything I have and ask what needs changing if anything. She's awesome, she's very patient and helpful and will be able to give me ALOT of info on his care.
She took my baby beardies (dragons) to the expo and sold all of them! I'm breeding my Hypo translucents next year, gonna be awesome! But nooooo cham breeding for me uh uh haha, just one pet veild too love. My baby veild is getting on for four weeks old, so I'm guessing it's gonna be teeny tiny right? When should I try to handle him? I'm not planning on touching him often, he's gonna be very much a visual pleasure, but I don't wanna have to wear gloves to ward off bites as I clean his cage either haha, ideas on how to hand tame him and when to start would be very much apreciated! Thank you for the replies, I love this place, ppl with the same passions as me at last to talk too!!!!:D

Yes, he will be very tiny at that age... getting them "used" to you takes time but hand feeding is a good way to "warm up" to them... although you may want to wait until he is a bit bigger as hand feeding may be a challange with one so small... don't know for sure I have never had one so young.... I got both by Cham's at 3 months old.

pics too come

OHHHH I'll take lots of pics of him, I just know by his breeder that he's gonna be beautiful now and as he matures, but I'll take pics when I get him tomorrow and as he grows I'll post more, hehehehehe I'm sooo excited!!!! He's getting delivered at 6pm but I'm working till 9pm so I gotta wait till I get home, gonna be buzzing with anticipation by the time I get home to see him as I haven't seen him yet, I have entrusted Sabrina his breeder to select him for me as she's never steered me wrong yet, but yes I'll take pics, can you tell I'm ecxited haha, ramble ramble haha!:D

Ok then, I'll just spend time talking to him so he gets used to my voice and looking at him so he gets used to me being around but not as a threat in anyway, the last thing I want is to frighten him, so I'll leave the handling until later on when he doesn't run away when I approach as the panther did! so I'll take it really slowly for awhile:) Thank you, I wasn't sure on that one

Good thinking but for the most part Chameleons are deaf. From my understanding it is possible for them to pick up vibrations but that is as far as their hearing goes. Correct me if I am wrong please!
