Chameleons can see colours better than we can…
“Human have three special proteins, called opsins, in their eyes that can detect red, blue and green light. Animals with only two opsins see only two colors.”…”chameleons -- can see the same colors we do plus ultraviolet light, which we cannot see”…

This one is really interesting….

We demonstrated that when chameleons are presented with two small targets moving in opposite directions, they can perform simultaneous, smooth, monocular visual tracking," said Prof. Rivlin. "To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of this capacity”…

”Eye movements in chameleons are not truly independent –
evidence from simultaneous monocular tracking of two targets”…

“In addition to double cones, four spectrally distinct classes of single cone were identified. No rod photoreceptors were observed. The visual pigments appear to be mixtures of rhodopsins and porphyropsins”…

"We found out that each eye has a different role. We have the tracking eye, that will continue tracking the target, and the converging eye that will converge to the tracking eye, and eventually she will choose that target,"…

OOOh...
I love this nerdy science stuff!🤓
LOL.
I am a total geek when it comes to this.
Thank you for posting.

THIS is why using the correct full spectrum lighting with UVA and UVB is so important.

It does make all the difference in the health and "mental state" of the animals.

Love these articles. Thanks!
Have to take a break from the big words.
Opps! 1st article about Octopus--- They see in black and white, unless my sources are wrong. Had them as pets along with cuttlefish. Mind boggling how they camouflage both shapes and colors.
