Hello, my 3 year old yemen chameleon Oscar is not opening his eyes, drinking or eating and in fact he hasn't moved in weeks. He doesn't even hold on to his plants in his mesh so we have to place him on the floor of his enclosure so he doesn't fall and hurt himself. We are having to constantly force him to drink through a syringe as well as giving him some paste through a syringe. We are rather worried as day-by-day he looks more lifeless and nothing we do seems to help. We have put it down to the fact that it is winter and he would naturally be in hibernation mode but it has gotten to a point where the largest movements he does is a slight turn in his back when we spray him. Hope someone can help me as we don't have the money to pay for him to see a specialist reptile vet :(

Details of enclosure and Chameleon:
. 3ft by 1.5 ft flexarium
. 3 years old
. he's normally fed crickets/locus daily but he does not always eat them straight away

Sorry to hear about your sick cham.

Please use the "how to ask for help" form at the top of the forum page.
It's a sticky.
Please copy and paste it, filled out with as much detail as possible.

Also, please post pics of your cham and cage set up.

Your problem can have many causes, and info from you will help us help you
better.

I don't think that Yemen chams have a natural "hibernation" cycle. If he's been ill for this long, he likely has a very serious infection that requires medical attention. I understand money is tight, but a vet visit NOW is probably the only way to save his life. Best of luck to you guys, and I hope he recovers.

Chameleon - Yemen, Male 3 years old. Been in our care for 6-8 months.
Handling - Generally handled a couple of times a day but due to his condition not much over past weeks.
Feeding - Normally feeds on locus once a day but due to not eating or moving we have fed him paste and blended locus through a syringe.
Supplements - We use Nutrobal (twice a week) and Prorep calci dust (used every feed).
Watering - Spray bottle 3-4 times a day around a minute each time. Oscar has only ever drank when we have sprayed water in his mouth from the spray bottle.
Fecal Description - White and runny. He has never been tested for parasites.
History - Generally healthy until this point.

Cage type - Flexarium. Screen 3 ft by 1.5 ft.
Lighting - Type of bulb is an Arcadia D3 100W mercury vaper. Lighting schedule is always 9am - 10pm.
Temperature - 85f is current temperature. Cage floor temperature is around 60f. With thermometers. His basking spot is generally 85f. Haven't checked night time temperature as we use coil ceramic heater.
Humidity - Humidity is 60%. Maintaining the levels through spraying the enclosures plants and the chameleon. We use hydrometers to record humidity levels.
Plants - Yes we do use live plants (kind is unknown but we know they are non toxic).
Placement - Living room. Cage is around 6 ft 5 off of floor.
Location - Southampton, Hampshire, England.
Hope this is all the info you need :/
