Chameleon Fogger Question

Hello! I currently house a 13 month old Panther Chameleon and I'm wondering if it's safe to have my fogger running at full capacity all the time. The breeder I bought him from said to keep it on high as much as possible, I would just like a few more answers from some experts before making my final decision. Any info helps! :)

Maybe I wouldn't run it constantly, but instead have it run for an hour at a time, and alternate. It may not be good for its skin to have constant moisture flowing over it, even as dissipated as foggers are.

Having the fogger constantly running can also create mold and other problems on just the wood and plants as well. While having humidity is important, it is also important to allow for a natural swing in humidity; there are natural spikes in humidity in the morning and again at night. Emphasizing humidity at those times of day, with supplemental 'foggings' throughout the day, should work fine for your chameleon.

What kind of enclosure are you using?
What is the ambient RH inside the room the chameleon is kept?
What is the ambient RH inside his enclosure without the fogger?

It is not safe to run it all day. It greatly increases the risk of an upper respiratory infection for your little guy. Use it after you mist for about 30 minutes to help prolong the humidity spike, and be sure to mist with really warm water. They love being misted if the water is warm enough, and it also helps with the humidity. Make sure to mist a couple hours before your lights go out or the temp will drop faster and he will get cold. As long as your humidity stays from 40-50% with a few increases throughout the day, misting in conjunction with 30 minutes of fogging should suffice. If you still have problems try a small humidifier next to the cage. DO NOT restrict airflow with shower curtains, it defeats the purpose of an all mesh cage. They need consistent air movement and if your air is stale, your asking for health problems.

good luck!
