chameleon doesnt like to go outside?

my chameleon friendly as can be! But when i take him outside he doesnt wanna be there he will open his mouth and gape im assuming? then we go back inside and he goes back to normal on his free roam I have! is this normal?

What chameleon species are you caring for and what's the outdoor temperature? Chameleons will sometimes gape as a means to regulate their temperature. Your chameleon may have been trying to cool down.

My male loves it outside and my female NOT! They sometimes take a bit of time or just happier where they are.

IMHO its not surprising that their demeanor changes when they go outside. We take them from their safe territory (cage) to different surroundings where there could be predators and other things they feel they have to watch out for. I know some seem to take this in stride but some take longer to get used to it....some never seem to. Just my opinion.
