Chameleon climbing top of cage

My make baby Jackson chameleon keeps climbing the walls and ceiling of his cage. My only concern is that my UVB bulb is right on top of the cage and I don't want my Cham to burn himself when he climbs under it. He also seems to claw at the cage ceiling and turn dark when he climbs under the light so I quickly removed the light from that area in fear it was burning him. Any advice?

Can we see a picture of your enclosure? Also, what wattage of heat bulb do you have?

The UVB bulb isn't the one to worry about (assuming you are not using one of the high output mercury vapor bulbs). You can check the temperature of the MESH right under the basking bulb with a non-contact temp gun to see how warm it gets. Most young chams like to climb on the top mesh and drive us crazy with worry.

Nvm I got it cleared up. I hung the light a few inches above the screen and the top of the screen isn't as hot now. Thanks for the concern
