Celery as a gut load?

I've never seen celery mentioned, either good or bad as a gut load. Thoughts?

Now that I've joined the world of cham keepers, I look at my cooking scraps in a whole new light :D

Another, how about banana peels?

Apples I know are good. I haven't thrown out an apple core since I got my cham. I just toss it in the cricket tub. :p

Banana peels are fine I know. Idk boot celery. Just be sure to remove the apple and peels and stuff the next day and not let it come in contact with the drygutload.

Celery is good in terms of being a hydration source. Here is a link to my blog entry with nutritional info on celery: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/650-celery.html

I know some people give banana peels to their roaches. I do not - there can be a lot of pesticide sprayed on them.

Be aware that apple core - specifically the seeds - actually contain small amounts of cyanogenic acids. Not a good thing to eat / pass to the chameleon. Only a possible problem if the crickets (or whatever) actually chew the seeds in quantity.

Thank you for the info gang :)

I hadn't thought about pesticides on the banana peels, that makes sense.

I never thought of that either since you don't really rinse bananas ha. And I wonder if that goes for all seeds? Could a cricket or Roach even consume a seed that big?

Not all seeds, no. Some seeds are quite beneficial. Apple, cherry and avocado arent good, and I think bitter almonds arent either. If you have a particular seed in mind, I can look it up.
