I want to do something with my zilla screen cage and i think i want mantises.. but can they be kept together or will they kill eachother?
can you keep praying mantises together?

miomantis paykulli (egyptian mantis) Phyllocria paradoxa (ghost mantis, I think I spelled the latin name wrong) ant mantids, and gambian flower mantids can be housed communally, so can stick manids (pretty rare), but anything else will cannibalize each other. just make sure you always provide food.

hmm.. so the normal/common ones you'd get you cant house together? having a lot of food wotn be an issue..

nope, almost all species are cannibalistic except for the ones mentioned previously. you could house one nice large female though!

co-habitating mantis in a screen cage ?
some species can be successfully housed together to near adult stage. a properly prepared small plastic container would probably make a better cage than a screen cage, most need fairly small containers (less than a gallon in most instances. like chameleons, you are probably better do some homework before you start. more and better info can be found on mantidforum.net jmo

It had better be a really big cage with a lot of vegetation if you wanted to keep them together.

I keep Violin mantids, and these can be kept together very easily. These are one of my favorite species!
