Can I see some pics of your misting system reservoir?

I have been using a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot, but since I do not have an automatic refill system on it, I am looking for something larger since our number of chameleons has grown and I have added more cages to the system I have to fill the bucket up often.

I was thinking about using a large trash can, but not sure if that would work.

Please post some pics of yours if possible!

Thanks in advance,

Jeffrey

Anything will work. I use one of these large plastic storage containers, it's something like 100qts or so? And full it lasts me about 4 days, misting nearly 50 minutes daily, for 4 cages. I didn't bother with making a proper hole for the tube to go into, I just secured it into the tub and it works like a wonder.

So you can use a trash can or whatever you want and just secure the tube to the inside of the container, and not bother with making the hole for it.

So you didn't use a bulkhead fitting? Did you just run the tube up and over the edge of the container, then secured it to the bottom?

Yep, essentially. It took me so long to wrestle with the fitting the first time to get it watertight, that I didn't want to bother with it every again! lol And it works just as well.

We use something like this

We drilled a hole about an inch away from the bottom of the container for the hose.

I like that 55 gallon drum! I know the car wash down the street sells 55 gallon drums for $5 but I doubt there is any way I can clean them enough to be able to use one for this system. I know they get all their soap in them originally. Any ideas where I could look for a safe one at?

Yeah, I would stay away from anything not either brand new or food grade. I got mine off of craigslist. It was used to ship banana peppers.

Try your local feed store. That's where I got mine. You may also try an army surplus.

Thanks so much for the ideas of where to get one. There are a lot of feed stores where we live, so I will check there and on CL as well!

These are all excellent ideas. I didn't even think about doing that with my resevoir. I have to refill mine every day! Time to upgrade to 55 gallons!
