Can I feed my roaches this?

Just bought a pair of hissers When they breed and I have babies to feed off, can I still feed them dog food as part of their diet? I have excellent quality dog food I feed my dog.

If you intent to feed them to reptiles, dog/cat food is not advised because of the animal protein. Fresh veggies/fruits and a dry gutload are best.

If just given to those you are breeding, not feeding off, yes you can include some dog food.

For the hissers that you intend to feed to chams, best not to. Certainly not in quantity. This is due to the fat and protein level (gout risk) and also preformed vitamin A and D that you may not be wanting to pass along (especially if you are using a supplement powder that contains these).

Very interesting Jann! The dog food I gave has 22% protein in it, but it is only a supplemental thing and should not OD them. But I will definitely keep this in mind when feeding a different dry food to my feeders.

be aware that grains typically have higher phosphorous than calcium (the opposite of what you're likely going for)

Great =) It is 12 grain too that's all I buy, so they get their grains. I just threw one end in each tank.

Unfortunately it doesn't say the phosphorus level, only 2% calcium.
