Cage Sizing

Hello all!

I'm planning on adding a chameleon to my ever growing reptilian family within the next two or so weeks. I've already bought a ficus tree and a pothos plant, along with lighting. The only part I'm stuck on is a cage. I'm not sure what size/age Veileds are going to be at Repticon so I'm kind of stuck on what size cage to go with. What suggestions do you guys have?

Thanks :)

If you can only afford one cage, I would get the size the cham will need as an adult. Omar was about 3-4months old when I got him and he was in a 24x24x48 inch cage from the get go. The problem with little ones in big cages is their ability to hunt food. Omar was cup fed so this was not an issue for him. Clouseau on the other hand will only free range, so he is in a much smaller cage, 18x18x24. His big boy cage will be here Monday or so (thanks Parisaurus) but I think it will be a while until he goes in there.

I would go as big as you can afford. They like as much space as you are able to provide. You can always sub divide the cage for when they are small and take out the divider as they grow.

Okay sweet! Thanks you guys. I was thinking bigger is better, I knew if I got a little guy though he may have difficulty hunting. I'm hoping they'll have some that are cup fed so I can continue doing so. I'm really excited to get a veiled. I was introduced to them at PetCo and almost bought one but they didn't look the healthiest and decided to go to a breeder at Repticon instead :) I appreciate your help and if y'all have any other suggestions for a newbie (in to the chameleon world) please share! I've mainly worked with crested geckos and ball pythons (a year or two ago).
