hi, matt in az here.
i have a veiled male cham, about 2.5 months old.
currently in 12*12*20

i am getting ready to buy permanent enclosure and just wonder if 24*24*48 is really big enough? just looking for thoughts and experiences you guys have had...
i tried searching but did not find what i was looking for.
looking forward to everyone's opinion

24x24x48 is a very acceptibal size for an adult male veiled. bigger the better is always the case for chameleons. but thats definatly big enough.

Yes, that would be a great size. If you intend to get a larger size, remember that taller is always a plus! The added height should give more of a sense of security to your boy. There are some cages that have extenders available to add height. (I think this was DIY cages, but I can't remember )
