Cage Question....

ok....i have a female veiled chameleon (not sure how old she is) she is about 4"-5" not including the tail and I'm planning on building her a new cage. I'm limited on space so i was wondering if a 24"x24"x36" cage would work..... and what type of screen would be best? Also is there anyway to tell how old a chameleon is?

if i were you i would make the cage about 20x20x40+. it dosent need to be that wide for a female. i have found that aluminum screen is the mest. light enters easier and it wont rust or melt. on the age of your chameleon...its hard to say, b/c each cham grows at its own rate. i would say 5-6 months

I would think the minimual size for a female is around 30"x17"x28". At least mine is rather content in this size cage. I guess it has some draw backs when it comes to plant selection but other then that I have not seen any.

Some like more vertical cages. I personally prefer to give them some width with a little less depth. This way I can see them more and they have plenty of roaming space. The cage size you have in mind or the above suggestion would work just fine. Just depends on the space you have to work with.
