Burns or normal?

Hi all,

I recently noticed the cask on my male veiled chameleons getting darker, he is between 10-14 months. Do you think this is a UVA/UVB burn or normal? FYI my 10.0 reptisun through mesh was only about 3-4 inches away by mistake, I’ve moved it to 6-8 inches away. FYI he looks tired in these pictures because I had to wake up the little guy to post. Thanks in advance!

He has a vet appointment next week.

JMO- When my males became about 6 to 10 months and they would get stressed (because of me) when I was cleaning or moving them, their veil/head would look the same. It should not stay that way especially when he is sleeping (relax mode).

Glad your taking him to vet since wellness checks are always good.

As males mature their heads and casques tend to start getting a lot of black and ash colors. It looks normal and healthy to me.

Looks normal to me too. I am always still checking Hammlet carefully though even though I know it’s just his normal color.

Post your own thread in the help forum... And you need better pics... First two look like a burn where the casque has already pealed off on the edge and the third looks like it is still there.
