The dead skin should/will fall off. To be honest and it is just my opinion. I wouldnt worry about any ointments at this time. The wound is already healing and i dont see any signs of infection or open fresh wound. Good ol'fresh air and his body will do the rest Be sure his temps are correct now.

I'm glad to hear it looks on the mend ! Yeah my fiancé moved his heat lamp awhile back which made his branch way too close to his basking spot
