Burn or Parasite?

I have a veiled chameleon who got a strange mark on the back of his arm recently.

It's kind of a discolored purplish/brown in a vaguely eliptical pattern. At first I thought for sure it was a burn but I suppose it could be a parasite or something. He's had it for probably two weeks now. It doesn't seem to bother him as much as it bothers me, he just does his chameleon things like normal.

Anyone have any guesses?

Also, I suppose it *could* be a weird shedding thing but I really doubt it. He had it for a bit then did some shedding and it's still there.

They can get burns in that spot so I think that might be what it is. Also, are his spikes on his back discolored or is that how they always look?? They look kinda whitish with the tips being black.

You know, I was pretty sure they weren't burned and that they just shifted colors for the picture so I went and snuck a peek at him. He's sleeping right now so he should be his brightest colors and they still do have the little black tips. I'll have to pay attention to the spikes, too, He's making me look like I don't take good care of him!

I'll back his light off from the cage a little bit.
